Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Wednesbury

Hours: Part-Time (3 days per week)

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you based at an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ one-form entry primary school as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), primarily based in Reception.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic HLTA to support mainly in Reception. In this role, you will play a key part in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young learners, while also being confident to cover classes and lead small group activities as needed.

You will work closely with the class teacher, helping to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, supporting the development of essential early years skills, and ensuring that every child reaches their full potential. The ideal candidate will have experience in the early years foundation stage (EYFS) and be comfortable taking responsibility for the class in the teacher’s absence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences for Reception and KS1 pupils.
  • Covering classes and leading lessons when required.
  • Delivering targeted support to individuals or small groups of pupils.
  • Assisting in the assessment and recording of pupils' progress.
  • Creating a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Working collaboratively with staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification (or equivalent) and experience working in KS1.
  • Confidence and experience in covering and leading classes when necessary.
  • A good understanding of the KS1 curriculum.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to the safety and well-being of children.
