Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm; Friday, 8:30 am – 1:30 pm

About Us: Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with an alternate provision in Bournemouth that is committed to providing outstanding support for students with special educational needs (SEN). The provision offers a nurturing and focused environment, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive academically and socially in a smaller group setting.

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join this alternate provision on a permanent basis. You will be working with small groups of students who have special educational needs, providing tailored support to help them achieve their full potential. This role requires someone with previous experience working in a similar capacity, with a passion for supporting students who may face additional challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring personalized and targeted assistance.
  • Assist in implementing individualized learning strategies, working closely with teachers and SEN coordinators.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment, helping students stay engaged, motivated, and on task.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, communicating effectively with the teaching team, parents, and carers.
  • Help develop resources and approaches that support differentiated learning and address individual student needs.
  • Support students in managing their behavior in line with school policies, encouraging positive social interaction and emotional resilience.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, specifically working with children with special educational needs, is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach, with a passion for helping young people succeed in their education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to ensure students' needs are met.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
