A primary school in Haringey is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a young EYFS pupil with autism. The role involves working closely with a Reception student, using autism-focused techniques to help the child feel engaged and comfortable in the classroom. This SEN Teaching Assistant role requires a compassionate, proactive individual who understands early year's needs.

Responsibilities for the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Providing individual support in classroom activities, ensuring a positive start to the school day.
  • Assisting with sensory activities and autism-specific techniques that promote learning and calmness.
  • Helping the child to develop foundational social and communication skills, focusing on interaction and play.
  • Working alongside the teacher to adapt lessons and create a nurturing, inclusive environment.
