  • A SEN School school that caters for pupils with MLD &ASC, aged 4-11
  • Preston based (PR1)
  • Full-time role: Monday-Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm
  • Start date: Monday 4th October
  • End date: Friday 17th December (with a view to continuing)

The Role

A Primary SEN School are looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support their pupils within KS2, the school caters for children with MLD and ASC. The school have said they would like the successful applicant to start on Monday 4th October until the end of the Autumn term, this role could be extended further into the Spring term. You would be expected to providing support whether it be on a general and/or 1:1 basis, this particular role would be supporting pupils in KS2 with ASC. To ensure consistency, the successful applicant would need to be able to commit to the role on a long-term basis, you would be supporting pupils on a daily routine, following personalised timetables when required

To be successful, experience supporting children/ young adults with additional needs is essential. Ideally this would be an educational setting however the school are keen to consider individuals with experience in support work, care, residential, youth work, prisons, sports coaching etc! It is essential the successful applicant has a good knowledge and understanding on how to support individuals with ASC.

The School

The usual school days focuses upon the social, emotional and educational development of each child, meaning the school use their own curriculum to cater to the needs of the pupils in the class. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be able to support the class in general duties throughout the school day and ensure the children are engaged. You would be expected to working closely alongside class teachers and SENCO to ensure the correct support is in place. It is key that you would be able to contribute to providing a healthy and safe learning environment for pupils.
