Autism Specialist Support

We are looking for a Autism Specialist Support to work alongside children with ASC in an SEN school in Skelmersdale. The school are looking for someone who is motivated by helping others, patient and resilient. The successful applicant will require experience supporting individuals with ASC whether children/ young adults and/ or adults. You will working on a 1:1 and small group basis in the specialist classes. The school caters for pupils aged 4-11 years old.

You will be supporting children specifically with ASC and encouraging each individual to achieve their potential academically and socially. You will be required to start on as soon as possible and the Head Teacher would firstly like to meet shortlisted candidates via zoom for an informal interview.

Key responsibilities

  • To support the class teacher in delivering agreed learning activities to ensure each individual child meets their discrete learning needs
  • Supporting children with moderate-severe Autism, including some who are non-verbal and need ongoing support and guidance throughout their learning
  • To promote structure, boundaries and domestic routines; ensuring a pleasant, clean and safe environment for the students in your care
  • To undertake relevant training programmes as and when required by the school

The Head Teacher would like to meet suitable candidates as soon as possible, ideally they would like shortlisted candidates in for an informal interview before a trial within a class.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
