Autism Support Assistant

The SENCO of a mainstream primary school in Elland (HX5) is hoping to recruit a full-time 1:1 SEN Support Assistant, to work with a pupil in Year 1 with Autism. The role is full-time and is set to start in September 2021.

Details of the role:

  • September 2021 start
  • Primary School – Year 1
  • Full time (Monday – Friday)
  • Approximate hours, 8:45am – 3:30pm
  • £10 - £11.50 per hour

Key requirements for this teaching assistant role will include:

  • Experience working with children with Autism and challenging behaviour
  • Experience holding interventions and de-escalating difficult situations
  • Patience and a caring and understanding nature
  • Ability to use own initiative and act accordingly without having to be directed
