KS1 Behaviour Support Assistant
A primary school in Clitheroe is seeking an additional support assistant on a part-time basis to start once schools are reopened. The school is based in Clitheroe, East Lancashire and requires support for a pupil with Behavioural Needs and SEMH. As the role is planned to start once the schools reopen (hopefully after February half term), despite the current situation with partial school closures the members of SLT have stated they would like Teaching Personnel to actively recruit for this position. The Head Teacher and members of SLT would like to meet suitable candidates beofre the start date so this will be done via a video call.
The primary school are hoping to appoint a part-time behaviour support assistant with experience in supporting children with additional needs. The school are looking for a candidate who is empathetic, resilient, energetic and patient. The role will require you to support the Key Stage 1 (Year 2) pupil on a 1:1 basis. You will mainly assist them with their school work but also you will work closely with the SENCO and class teachers in effectively manage the disruptive behaviour.
The candidate must come from a background in working with children, specifically with pupils who could display challenging behaviours. The school will accept candidates from a Youth Work, Care, Education or Military background and candidates whom have first hand experience caring for children with additional needs will also be considered. The candidate must be looking for a long-term role and candidates must have a passion for working with pupils who can be challenging in their behaviours.
