Early Years Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time (Mon- Fri, 8.30am-15.15pm)
  • Start date: February 2023
  • £10.70-12.50 p/h (depending on experience)

A primary school in Blackburn (BB1) are currently seeking a EYFS Teaching Assistant. This role is to start in February 2022 potentially until the end of the academic year (July 2023), however, there is a possibility that the role will become a permanent position. This role has recently become available due to a planned change in staffing within school. The head teacher is looking for someone who is passionate about education and supporting children in the EYFS classes as they now require additional support to ensure that all children achieve their early learning goals in order for them to be prepared for the transition into Year 1 in September 2021. The head teacher has stated that due to the nature of the class, the successful practitioner will need to be extremely nurturing.

The school

The school is an average sized primary school and behaviour within the school is good. The school has an excellent range of resources which provides children with a wide range of opportunities inside and outside of the classroom.

The role:

As the successful applicant, you would be responsible for taking on a range of duties including; supporting children in small groups as well as on a 1:1 basis, implementing positive behaviour strategies, and building relationships with pupils. The Head Teacher is keen to find a candidate with confidence in their knowledge of Phonics and the EYFS framework.

The Candidate:

  • Level 2 qualified or above
  • Experience in Nursery, EYFS or a Primary School setting
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about the Early Years Sector
  • Core Subject Knowledge of the EYFS framework
  • Good behaviour management skills
  • Knowledge of Phonics schemes of work

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
