Opportunity for teachers in York:
The role= Core subject intervention tutor in York starting in September. Teaching Personnel are working in co-ordination with the National Tutoring Programme in York to provide intervention tutoring for students requiring small group supervision in English, Maths and Science. Tutor group sizes for this role range between 1:1 and 1:6 and pay ranges between £25 and £35 depending on group size. The successful candidate must have effective behaviour management skills and empathy to help students progress. Through the programme every student is entitled to 15 weeks of planned sessions that follow the national curriculum for a given age group in KS3 or KS4. These sessions must be summarised in small session reports so school staff can view students’ progress.
Requirements of the role= Intervention experience is invaluable to this position and therefore qualified teachers are most suited to this role. Nevertheless, for graduates with core subject specialism and experience of teaching in small groups this role could be suitable for a passionate individual. The hours of this position are subject to availability as tutoring normally covers multiple days a week and can cover multiple placements in blocks of fifteen weeks.
