Behaviour Support Assistant

  • Full-time 1:1 behaviour support role
  • Key Stage 1 (Year 1)
  • Primary School in Accrington
  • Start date TBC (depending on when schools reopen)

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a primary school in Accrington as the Head Teacher is seeking additional support for one of their Year 1 pupils. Coming from a challenging background, the pupil has behavioural issues and the Head Teacher is ideally seeking a positive role model to work on a 1:1 basis with them to improve their behaviour. At the minute with the school closures, the child is not attending school therefore the Head Teacher wants suitable support in place for when the child returns.

The start date for the role could possibly be Monday 22nd February 2021 or it could be Monday 12th April 2021. The Head Teacher is looking for a support assistant who can commit to the role for the rest of the academic year, with the potential of a school contract in the future. This pupil thrives from routine and for the stability of the child, the Head Teacher has stated that ideally, they would be looking for the 1:1 support to continue for the rest of their time at the primary school.

The incoming support assistant will enjoy the benefits of working in a primary school in Accrington. When the pupils join the school in Reception, there is normally a high number of children who are not ‘school ready’ however when they leave in Year 6 results are generally in line with age related expectation. Teachers and teaching assistants who have worked in school through Teaching Personnel enjoy working in school because  the behaviour and the children's attitude to learning is good, in addition the support from senior leaders is consistent and evident.

The Head Teacher aims to shortlist and interview by 5th February 2021. Interviews will take place over a video call. The deadline for applications is Monday 1st February 2021.
