Teaching Personnel is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to work with our partner schools in the Fareham area. We are seeking individuals with experience in supporting students with additional learning needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and behavioural difficulties.

This is a rewarding role that offers the chance to make a significant difference in the educational journey of pupils who require extra support.

 

  • Targeted Support: Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils, helping them engage with their learning and achieve their personal goals.
  • Delivering Support Plans: Assist in implementing personalised learning and support plans under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo, ensuring each pupil's unique needs are addressed.
  • Classroom Assistance: Support the class teacher with daily tasks, including preparing resources, managing behaviour, and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Encouraging Independence: Help students develop confidence and self-reliance by offering appropriate support and challenges.
  • Behavioural Support: Implement strategies to support positive behaviour and calmly manage any challenging situations that may arise.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately document pupil progress and behaviour, providing regular updates to the class teacher and relevant staff.
  • Collaboration with External Agencies: Work with external professionals, such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Occupational Therapists, to support the development of pupils.

 

  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting is essential. Experience supporting pupils with SEND or SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Empathy and Patience: A caring and understanding approach, with the ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: The ability to adapt to the changing needs of the pupils and the school environment.
  • Team Player: A collaborative and proactive attitude, supporting colleagues and contributing to the wider school community.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful candidates will be subject to a DBS check and other pre-employment checks.
