Learning Support SEN Surrey - Education and Training - Learning Support SEN Surrey, Dorking- LSA role with boys aged 9-16 - Immediate start and continuing after half term
Immediate start, 5 days a week, working with some of the most vulnerable children in society. The aim of this role is to show the value of education. The mainstream curriculum hasn't worked for the students, this role is about showing them a new way, valuing education and keeping them out of the criminal justice system.
This Learning Support SEN Surrey role is all about positive reinforcement and understanding the mental health and contexts of the vulnerable boys you are working with. All of the boys have an EHCP and a range of need, they have all been tragically let down by the adult world. As a result, empathy and patience are key in this role, the seeds you plant to aid students in their behaviour and recovery, you will not often get to see grow. It's a long process and there are not any magic answers or miracle cures.
Ideal role if you are an Aspiring Youth, Social or Criminal Justice Officer - The focus here is on Mental Health and Restorative Practices. The curriculum is designed in such a way that it is not rejected by the boys, there are reasons why the mainstream education did not engage, huge creative elements at play. Hairdressing, Gaming, an interest and passion for PE and the Performing Arts will be a huge advantage here.
