Are you looking for an opportunity to work with individuals with complex health and learning needs? Teaching Personnel have an exciting position that has arisen for a dedicated and caring teaching assistant to join our client school in Warrington.

  • 35 hours per week, term time only between the hours of 08:00am and 4:00pm with a 15-minute break and 45 minute lunch break
  • £10.20 per hour
  • Temporary – Permanent contract

The role:

You will work with an individual pupil who has complex health and learning needs, under the direction and guidance of the Director of Teaching and Learning Support and other teaching or senior staff. You will work in line with current legislation and local initiatives, facilitating the pupil’s sustained attendance in school.

Duties involve undertaking work/care/support programmes, to enable the pupil to access the curriculum and act as a key worker for the pupil and will be responsible for working in partnership with the parents/carers.  Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.

You will:

  • Meet all aspects of a pupil’s personal care needs, eg toileting and personal care, dressing, moving and handling, ensuring that dignity is maintained responding to hygiene needs when required and promoting independence.
  • Deliver therapy as necessary and as advised by medical professionals
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans, Individual Education/Behaviour Plans, Pupil Passports and Personal Care programmes
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
  • Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress and problems
  • Deliver programmes linked to local and national strategies, for example, literacy, numeracy, KS3 and early years, recording achievement and progress and feeding back to the teacher

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Some prior experience working with young people
  • A caring and supportive approach
  • Have GCSE Maths and English A-C/4-9
  • Have a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
