Classic Education is working with a primary school in Tower Hamlets, east London that requires a Speech and Language teaching assistant to work with small groups of children in Year 4.

As an SEN speech and language teaching assistant in this role you would be required to support two groups of 5 children that are developing their speaking and communication abilities. You will work closely with the children in different areas mainly in the groups but also potentially individually, in and out of lessons. You will be required to develop strategies, methods and adjust lessons to meet their learning needs to develop and meet their needs to enhance their speech, language and communication. Experience in a similar role is beneficial.

The ideal candidate will have: -

  • SEN experience working with primary age children
  • Speech and language qualifications or relevant experience
  • Experience using different communication methods to support children
  • An ability to make learning accessible through differentiated material
  • Supported Autistic children and children with barriers to communication
  • Used PECS, visual aids and visual timetables to help students communicate

As this is a role that will start immediately for the right candidate, you will need to complete Classic Education's registration process, have a DBS that can be verified on the online update service and provide references that cover a full 2 year period of employment.

The role will start as after May Half Term.
