Secondary Teacher (SEN)

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a teacher for an SEN school in Carnforth, Lancashire (LA5). The school caters for pupils 2 to 19 years with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), some with associated complex needs, ASD (Autism) and challenging behaviours. 

  • Full-time (Five days a week, Mon-Fri)
  • A school based in Carnforth
  • Competitive salary (£120- £160 per day)
  • Start date: January 2022
  • End date: April 2022/ July 2022

They are a specialist day school which also offers optional residential provision. The school are looking for a teacher to start in January 2022 until Easter (April 2022). Ideally the school are hoping to appoint a fully qualified teacher who has experience working with Specialist Provision. Within this role, you would be working closely with multiple support assistants within class and appropriately planning for the needs of the children in class. The Secondary class caters for children aged 11-14, covering the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum at an appropriate sensory level. Class sizes in school vary between 6-8 pupils, the secondary class currently has 7 children with 5 support assistants.

Pupils are taught a range of skills and have a broad and balanced curriculum.  In addition to classroom experiences, pupils have access to a range of therapeutic learning sessions. These are currently:  Rebound therapy, hydrotherapy, TAC PAC and music interaction. Each learner’s individual needs are taken into consideration when learning which ensures all the needs of every child are effectively met.
