Academics is seeking to recruit Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants for children with Special Educational Needs for Daily and Long Term cover in the south east London and Kent areas.

Have you worked in schools for children with PMLD, SLD, MLD or EBD?
Have you worked with children with extreme behavioral issues?
Do you have any 1 to 1 or group experience with children with Autism in either KS1 or KS2?
Are you MAKATON or PECS trained and qualified?

We will consider teaching assistants who have worked in a relevant setting with the required skills and experience.

You will demonstrate a professional approach and be able to take the initiative and work effectively with permanent staff and have the aptitude to form good relationships and be able to communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.

The role;
You will be working with pupils, with varied social issues or special needs. You may work on a one to one basis or with more than one child, assisting them in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with other school staff in supporting the child you are working with, often tracking and reviewing the child's progress. You will assist with school work in various subjects, and will often need to find ways to keep that pupil engaged in lessons. You will need to build a relationship and gain trust from the pupil in order for you to help them improve and raise their attainment in school.

Suitable applicants;
- Team teach is desirable but not essential
Will have experience working with children with challenging behaviour
Have transferable skills they can use in the classroom
Be committed and passionate about working with children with additional needs

You must:
* Be eligible to work in the UK
* Have professional experience working with children in the UK
* Have up to date professional references (covering the last 2 years)
* Have an enhanced DBS disclosure on the Update Service of be happy to apply for one
