SEN Teaching Assistant - The School

Mainstream Primary Schools in Reading are currently looking for SEN teaching assistants who specialise in ASC, Challenging Behaviour, Makaton & PECs. These roles vary from 3-5 days a week and involve providing support to pupils with social, emotional and mental health as well as SEN.

SEN Teaching Assistant - The Role

The SEN team are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant who has experience working with either ASC, Dyslexia, Challenging Behaviour, PLD, MLD, PECs and Makaton. 

The right candidates will:

  • Have experience providing specialist support to children with SEN
  • Have experience working 1:1 and in small groups with children who have moderate to severe behavioural difficulties
  • Have experience liaising with Parents and SENCO on the child’s progress
  • Experience working with children within primary schools is desirable but not compulsory

Although a background in a school setting is desirable it is not essential, the schools will also consider candidates who come from other backgrounds:

 -Youth work   -Sports coaching   -NEET -Drama & Art -Criminology or Psychology Degree  

 -Core subjects: English, Maths & Science
