SEN Tutor with PECS and/or Makaton experience!

Nottingham

Teaching Personnel are closely partnered with several virtual schools to support looked after children who are not currently in education, for various reasons including social care placement moves, exclusions or anxiety. For looked after children, the pandemic will have increased barriers to school attendance so it's vital we can provide skilled, professional educators to support pupils to engage in their education.

As a means of addressing these barriers we are looking for 1:1 tutors to provide home tuition, to bridge the gap in pupil learning and knowledge.

As a 1:1 tutor you will plan, develop and provide individualised programmes. Often pupils have varied SEN needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, challenging behaviour, and trauma. Recently we have been inundated with referals for extremely complex needs children, including those on the Autistic Spectrum who are non-verbal and require PECS, Makaton and other commuication aids.

We are able to cater for both PT or FT hours. Tuition requests vary from approximately 6 to 25 hours per week, depending on the needs of the pupil.

Requirements

  • Ideally hold a QTS/PGCE certificate
  • Endless enthusiasm and patience
  • Experience working with either primary or secondary pupils
  • Have some experience working with young people with SEN
  • Ability to engage with pupils quickly and accelerate progression

What you will get in return

  • Up to £25p/h (PAYE)
  • Weekly pay
  • Flexible working pattern – perfect for those with a busy schedule or childcare commitments
  • Full time or part time availability – dependent on your lifestyle
  • Local and regular work
  • Making a profound difference to those who need help the most
  • Dedicated consultant who stays by your side throughout the entire process
