If you have experience working within a SEND environment and you are a proactive individual who is dedicated to making a difference this may be the opportunity for you.
I am currently seeking several attentive, dedicated and professional ASD Learning Support Assistants for our client in North London, which is very accessible with good transport links to it. You will be within 5mins walk from a London Overground station, and approx. 8 mins on the bus to Finsbury Park Station (Piccadilly Line & Victoria Line)
The school is a specialist ASD unit with small classes, no more than 6 pupils with 4 members of staff per class. There is a built-in life skills department, which encourages students to gain independence by learning to prepare food, wash clothes and bedding to make up, you will be encouraged to take groups in here and assist them with this aspect. There is a well-equipped sensory room, spacious sports hall and a dedicated therapy team for speech and language, ABA and Occupational therapy sessions.
The children are aged between 5-16 with severe ASD needs and are generally developing at a lower cognitive age, therefore require a lot of support and attention; such as personal care and 1:1 support. A majority of the students are non-verbal, so Non-Communication skills such as PECS & Makaton are required.
The school staff are caring dedicated and extremely attentive; therefore, they are seeking similar individuals to join the team. Staff here are dedicated to development and progression having weekly development days to build upon the skills that they already obtain including communication and restraint training.
