  • Two full-time roles available (8.45am-3.15pm/4.00pm)
  • Specialist School in Skelmersdale
  • School supporting children from EYFS - KS2
  • November start (After October half-term, role to start sooner if possible)

An SEN school in Skelmersdale are in need of two SEN Support Assistants ideally starting after October half term (Monday 1st November). The school caters for students aged 4-11 with varying additional needs including ASC and SEMH. The school are looking to recruit on a temporary basis with a view to move onto a school contract later on in the academic year. There are two roles available in school, one to provide general support within one of the KS2 classes and the other is to provide additional support within the ASC specialist classes. 

Role 1: General SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Working with children on a 1:1 and/ or small group basis
  • Encouraging engagement throughout lessons
  • Monitoring individuals progress 
  • De-escalating challenging behaviour if required

Role 2: ASC Specialist Support

  • Providing 1:1 support with the Specialist class
  • Ensuring consistency on a day to day basis
  • Following visual timetables/ aids to support individuals
  • De-escalating challenging behaviour if required

To be successful, experience supporting children/ young adults with additional needs is essential. Ideally this would be an educational setting however the school are keen to consider individuals with experience in support work, care, residential, youth work, prisons, sports coaching etc! The school are open to various experience and try and recruit based on the unique skills a candidate can bring to the roles, giving their pupils exposure to new experiences. Team Teach training is desirable however not essential with the positions.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
