Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs? Do you have the resilience and determination to help a student with behavioural challenges thrive in a supportive and understanding environment? If so, we have the perfect role for you!

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable 1-1 Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with a secondary student who has struggled in mainstream school, providing the individualised support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1-1 support to a secondary student with special educational needs.
  • Build a strong, trust-based relationship with the student to foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Assist the student with their academic work, helping them to understand and complete tasks.
  • Implement and adhere to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Address and de-escalate behavioural issues calmly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to monitor the student’s progress and adapt support as needed.
  • Promote the student’s social and emotional development.

Essential Qualities:

  • Proven experience working with children who have special educational needs, particularly in a 1-1 setting.
  • Strong personality with the ability to manage and support behavioural issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build and maintain a trusting relationship with the student.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
  • Reliability and dedication to the student’s success.

The ideal candidate would be a compassionate individual with the experience and dedication to support a student with special educational needs, you would need to be resilient and able to work well in stressful situations to help de-escalate and situations that could arise.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
