Position: 1:1 Support Assistant
Location: Burnley, Lancashire
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Start Date: September 3rd 2024


A Secondary SEMH school located in Burnley, dedicated to supporting students with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The Role:
As a 1:1 Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored support to an individual student, helping them to engage fully in their learning and school life.
  • Assist in developing and implementing personalized learning plans, adapting your approach to meet the student’s unique needs.
  • Offer emotional and behavioural support, helping the student to manage challenges and build confidence.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SEN team, and parents to ensure consistent support and progress.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where the student feels valued and understood.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, in an educational or supportive setting.
  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach with a strong commitment to helping students succeed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to the needs of the student and the school.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a willingness to undertake further training.
