Support Worker Role within a Primary School

Teaching Personnel is seeking to recruit a 1:1 Classroom Assistant to join a Primary School in Durham on a full-time basis, starting 4th September 2024. As a 1:1 Classroom Assistant, you will provide tailored support to a pupil in Year 1 with a diagnosis of Autism and a Global Developmental Delay. Your role will entail you to support the child to navigate their educational journey and ensuring their specific needs are met. The successful candidate will foster a positive relationship with the student and staff to ensure a conducive learning environment. Confidence in providing targeted support in maths and literacy is desired.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a designated student with their classwork and activities.
  • Assist the SENCO with the preparation of materials and resources needed for the student.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment for the student.
  • Supervise and support the student during class and break times.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Desire to support children and assist with their learning and development.
  • Experience with children in a professional or personal setting.
