1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Here at Teaching Personnel, we are currently seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant, with experience of supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to join an excellent school in the DE23 area of Derby.

Location: Derby, UK.

Salary: £84-£95 per day (dependent on experience).

Details: Full-time, Mon – Fri (8.20am-3.30pm).

Job Description:

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing personalised support to a child, on a 1:1 basis, ensuring they receive a tailored education dependent on their needs. Working closely with the classroom teacher and the SENDCO, you will help to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, enabling the child to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide 1:1 support to a child with SEND, adapting learning materials to meet their specific needs.

- Assist the class teacher with daily preparation, activities and ensure that the child remains engaged and motivated.

- Implement an Individual Learning Plan (ILPs) and contribute to the monitoring of the child’s progress.

- Work collaboratively with parents, teaching and other specialists to ensure holistic development.

- Support the child with their social and emotional development, encouraging them to build self-esteem and confidence.

- Ensure the child’s safety and well-being during the school day.

Requirements:

-Level 2 or 3 Qualification in Childcare (or other relevant qualification)

-Experience working with children with SEND is essential.

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

-A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.

-Ability to work within a team and independently.

Desirable Qualifications:

- A degree in Educations, Special Educational Needs, Psychology (or related field)

- Additional SEND training or qualification.
