The PWR team at Teaching Personnel is proud to partner with an Academy in Chatham, Kent, seeking a motivated and enthusiastic English specialist to join them as the Academy Lead for Reading and Literacy. About the Role:

As the Academy Lead for Reading and Literacy, you will provide professional leadership and management of all activities relating to literacy throughout the school. Working alongside key staff members, including the Assistant Headteacher for Teaching and Learning, the Associate Leader for English, and the Librarian, you will oversee interventions to support students in developing their literacy skills and track the impact of these interventions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting Literacy Across the Curriculum: Collaborate with academic departments to embed literacy and reading throughout the curriculum, ensuring that literacy skills are developed across all subjects.
  • Planning and Delivering a Stimulating Curriculum: Utilize your creativity and expertise to plan and deliver a creative and stimulating literacy curriculum that engages students and fosters a love for reading and writing.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Track the impact of literacy interventions and initiatives, making data-informed decisions to drive improvement in literacy outcomes for all students.

What You Will Need:

  • Qualified teacher status and expertise in English/literacy education.
  • Positive and open approach to learning, with a commitment to fostering a culture of literacy within the school community.
  • Thorough knowledge of current curriculum developments and best practices in literacy education.
