Salary: £12.90 per hour

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Support Assistant to join our team and provide one-on-one support for a child with ADHD. This position is to cover a maternity leave beginning in October.

Job Description: As a Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the daily care and development of a child with ADHD. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with classroom activities and ensuring the child remains engaged and focused.
  • Implementing strategies to help manage ADHD symptoms.
  • Supporting the child in developing social skills and positive behaviours.
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a cohesive support plan.
  • Monitoring and recording the child’s progress and any challenges faced.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised support tailored to the child's individual needs.
  • Help with organisation and completion of schoolwork and assignments.
  • Encourage positive interactions with peers.
  • Utilise behaviour management techniques to maintain a supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with any additional needs, such as transitioning between activities and coping with sensory sensitivities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children, preferably those with ADHD or other special needs.
  • Understanding of ADHD and effective management strategies.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in child development, special education, or related fields are desirable.
