ADHD Teaching Assistant

As an ADHD Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) within the classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with teachers to develop and implement strategies that cater to the unique needs of students with ADHD.
  • Provide one-on-one support during lessons, helping students stay focused and engaged.
  • Assist in creating a structured learning environment that minimizes distractions and promotes positive behaviour.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding individual achievements and challenges.
  • Facilitate small group activities that encourage collaboration and social skills development among peers.
  • Support students during breaks and transitions between classes to ensure they feel safe and supported.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other professionals involved in the care of students with ADHD.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of ADHD and its impact on learning is essential; training or certification related to special educational needs would be advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with children who may exhibit challenging behaviour’s.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and adaptability in response to changing classroom dynamics.
