We are currently seeking a dedicated and organized Administrative Assistant to join the team at a secondary school in the Glossop area, starting in September.

Role Overview

As an Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital role in the smooth operation of the school, providing essential support to both staff and students. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and enjoys working in a dynamic educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Administration: Handling telephone calls, emails, and correspondence, ensuring all inquiries are managed efficiently.
  • Student Records: Maintaining and updating student records and school databases with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Attendance Monitoring: Assisting in the management of student attendance records, including logging absences and following up as needed.
  • Support to Staff: Providing administrative support to teaching staff, including photocopying, filing, and preparing materials for lessons.
  • Reception Duties: Greeting visitors, managing school entry, and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed.
  • Event Coordination: Assisting with the planning and execution of school events, including parent evenings and school assemblies.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a friendly and professional demeanour.
  • IT Proficiency: Competence in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with school management systems (SIMS) is advantageous.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents, contributing positively to the school community.

  • DBS Check: A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is essential.
  • References: Two professional references, including one from your most recent employer.
