Full-Time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Autism Support

Location: Garstang 

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: £85 per day

Teaching Personnel are looking for a dedicated and patient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on behalf of one of our partner primary schools. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, adaptable, and committed to meeting the diverse needs of students with autism.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Provide tailored 1:1 and group support to students with ASC, helping them engage in classroom activities and reach their full potential
  • Adapt teaching methods and learning materials to meet individual needs, ensuring students feel included and supported
  • Implement strategies to support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation in line with the students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and other staff to create a structured and nurturing environment that promotes learning and development
  • Foster independence and self-confidence in students by encouraging small, achievable steps towards personal and academic goals
  • Respond flexibly and sensitively to the individual challenges that students with autism may present

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism
  • A patient, calm, and understanding approach to supporting students with special educational needs
  • The ability to adapt to each student’s unique learning style and requirements
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with a range of staff and parents
  • A passion for making a meaningful impact on the lives of students with autism

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in a school setting or with students in an educational context
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN, autism support, or child development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
