About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a caring and experienced ASD Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team in a school in Selby. In this role, you will provide vital support to primary-aged students with ASD, helping them to engage with their learning, develop social skills, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one and in small groups with students with ASD, providing tailored support based on their individual needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Implement specific strategies and interventions to support the learning and development of students with ASD.
  • Help students with communication, social interaction, and sensory processing challenges, promoting positive behavior and emotional well-being.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCO.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.

  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), preferably in an educational setting.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by students with ASD and the strategies that can support their learning.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
