Job Title: Assistant Head Teacher - Pastoral

Location: UK, Lancashire, Leyland

Overview:

Assistant Head Teacher - Pastoral, Aurora Brooklands

Location: Leyland, Lancashire   

Salary: £47,185 to £53,380 per annum - Depending on experience and skills

Hours/Contract: 40 hours per week / Fixed Term Contract for one term

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for behaviour and attitudes as defined by OFSTED; ensure evidence is in place and triangulates with daily practice to show B&A as consistently at least “Good”. Able to effectively communicate this evidence base.
  • Operationally highly visible in ensuring consistently high quality pastoral care and behaviour management on a day to day basis.
  • DSL for whole school; ensure KCSIE is applied consistently well and that all staff are fully trained and confident in effectively identifying, recording and reporting safeguarding concerns.
  • Line management responsibility for Safeguarding lead and pastoral lead.
  • Oversight of My Concern and associated actions, including leading or delegating to the safeguarding lead work with external agencies (e.g. Early Help, ChIN/CP meetings, Multi agency meetings etc).
  • Oversight of ENGAGE; use of data to proactively identify priorities for action by the pastoral team and to monitor the positive impact of these actions (eg restorative practice opportunities, individual behaviour intervention plans, modelling and coaching opportunities for staff etc).
  • Oversight of attendance; leading or delegating to the safeguarding lead to ensure safeguarding criteria are met through the correct application of the local procedures and attendance policy (eg first day calling, third day eyes on visit etc).

Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.

Responsibilities:

Essential:

  • Experienced senior leader in the SEMH sector.
  • SLT experience of OFSTED inspection, specifically B&A element.
  • Trained DSL with experience of holding this whole school responsibility.
  • Recent experience of pastoral line management.
  • Good working knowledge of ENGAGE and My Concern or similar MIS systems.
  • Successful track record of improving whole school attendance.
