We are currently recruiting for school which is dedicated to providing a supportive, inclusive, and enriching educational environment for children with autism. Their mission is to help each student reach their full potential by offering individualised instruction, care, and guidance. They are passionate about empowering children with autism to thrive in both academic and social aspects of life.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Teaching Assistant to join their team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the lead teachers to support the learning, social development, and well-being of children with autism. The ideal candidate is patient, understanding, and eager to contribute to a positive and nurturing classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist lead teachers in delivering individualized instruction to children with autism, following tailored lesson plans and IEPs (Individualized Education Plans).
  • Support students in developing communication, social, and life skills through structured activities and one-on-one guidance.
  • Help manage the classroom environment by ensuring a calm, organized, and safe space for all students.
  • Provide students with support during transitions, such as between activities, mealtimes, and breaks.
  • Use positive reinforcement and other behaviour management techniques to assist students in meeting their behavioural and academic goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to monitor and assess student progress.
  • Support students with personal care needs, such as feeding or hygiene, as required.
  • Foster a trusting and encouraging relationship with students, building confidence and promoting independence.
  • Maintain accurate records of student activities, progress, and any incidents, sharing these with the teaching team as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions to stay informed about best practices in autism support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
