Location: Chorley, Lancashire
Hours: Full-Time
Start Date: As soon as final profile clearance (DBS dependent, approximately 1-4 weeks)

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with autism and special educational needs? We are looking for a dedicated Autism Support Worker to join our supportive team, a specialist primary SEN school committed to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment for children with autism and other additional needs.

About the Role:

As an Autism Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored assistance to children with autism. Your role will be integral in helping students to thrive both socially and academically. Duties will include:

  • Supporting individual students or small groups, following personalised learning and behaviour plans.
  • Implementing activities designed to develop social, communication, and life skills.
  • Assisting in managing sensory and behavioural needs.
  • Building positive relationships with students, helping them feel safe and supported.
  • Assisting with personal care when needed.

About You:

This role is ideal for someone with experience in autism support or SEN, or with a passion for learning in this area. You will be:

  • Empathetic, patient, and resilient.
  • Skilled in understanding and managing the unique needs of students with autism.
  • A team player with strong communication skills.
  • Able to build trust and rapport with children and young people.

Essential Requirements:

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work full-time.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (we will assist in applying).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children in an SEN setting, particularly with autism.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN, Autism Awareness, or Teaching Assistance.
