We are currently recruiting on behalf of an excellent school in Basingstoke, Hampshire, seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher to work with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, making a real and lasting difference in their educational journey.

As an SEMH Teacher, your main responsibility will be to provide tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of students with SEMH challenges. You will manage the classroom environment, implement effective behaviour management strategies, and work collaboratively with other staff and external agencies to ensure students receive the emotional and educational support they need.

  • Planning and delivering lessons that are specifically designed to engage and support SEMH students.
  • Effectively managing classroom behaviour to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with SENCOs and support staff.
  • Working closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to each student’s development.
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress, offering feedback and ensuring each child reaches their full potential.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs or SEN is essential.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient attitude towards teaching and behaviour management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
