An SEMH provision in Burnley area is seeking a passionate support assistant who can provide support for their young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health), aged 11-16. The young people's needs vary and an understanding approach much be adopted!

Your working day will involve supporting pupils in varying subjects across the curriculum. You will also assist with the development of social and emotional skills and encourage positive behaviours, relationships, and outcomes. As a behaviour mentor you will deliver interventions to the students, providing them with strategies to regulate their emotions. The sole purpose of this role is to develop and maintain positive, trusting relationships with the children – encouraging them in removing their barriers to learning.

As this is a challenging environment you will ideally have experience in this sector and have worked with challenging individuals. This doesn’t necessarily have to be in a school setting and can be from care, residential, youth work, camp America, prisons, sports coaching etc! The school are open to various experience and try and recruit based on the unique skills a candidate can bring to the role, giving their pupils exposure to new experiences.
