This role is working as a Behaviour Mentor at a Secondary School in Newport.  In this role you will be required to support pupils in small groups and on a 1:1 basis with behavioural needs.

Job Summary:

  • £12.90 - £14.10 hourly pay

  • Initially until August 2024 – there will be an opportunity to join the school on a contract for the right applicant!

The Behaviour Mentor Role:

As a Behaviour Mentor you will be required to support KS3 and KS4 students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.  The students you will be supporting will have additional learning needs including learning difficulties and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

You will be expected to be a positive role model and have a firm but fair approach to setting appropriate boundaries with students

You will work closely with the students you support to manage behaviour and monitor progress. You will be working with supervision and support from the ALNCo. . You may also need to deal with crisis situations, disclosures, altercations etc.

As Behaviour Mentor you will be required to support with vocational activities and sessions that focus on life skills, sports, DT, arts, construction, computing, food tech as well as some support in core academic lessons.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking individuals that are confident with behaviour management skills and have experience working/volunteering with children or adults with with behavioural difficulties.

Youth Work, Psychology and Sports coaching experience is also an advantage!
