Behaviour Mentor – Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time role starts in October and continues until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent position depending on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will be pivotal in supporting students who face challenges with their behavior, helping them to succeed academically and personally within the school environment. Your role will involve working closely with students to identify underlying issues, implementing strategies to improve their behavior, and fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Work one-on-one or in small groups with students who have been identified as needing additional behavioral support. You will help them understand the impact of their behavior and guide them towards making positive changes.

  • Behavior Management: Implement and maintain effective behavior management strategies across the school. This may include de-escalation techniques, restorative practices, and the development of personalized behavior plans.

  • Mentorship and Guidance: Act as a mentor to students, providing them with the support and encouragement they need to make positive choices. You will be a role model, helping students build self-esteem, resilience, and social skills.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to create and maintain a supportive learning environment. You will participate in meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of behavior improvement plans.

  • Monitoring Progress: Track and record the progress of students you work with, providing regular feedback to teachers and senior leadership. Your insights will help in adjusting strategies to better meet the needs of each student.

  • Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support in situations where students may be in crisis, ensuring their safety and the safety of others. You will be trained to handle these situations calmly and effectively.

  • Parental Engagement: Liaise with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress and working together to support the student's development both at school and at home.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly those with challenging behaviors, is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing challenging situations.
  • Understanding of behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to overcoming obstacles.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and handle difficult situations with professionalism.
  • A commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.
