Do you have the skills and experience to support children in need of extra guidance with their emotional and social development? We're looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work in primary schools across Nottingham, helping students reach their full potential.

The Role: As a Behaviour Mentor, you'll work closely with children displaying challenging behaviours, providing essential support to help them succeed both inside and outside the classroom. You'll be a key figure in their educational journey, helping them manage their emotions, build confidence, and thrive in a structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and adapt behaviour management strategies in collaboration with teachers and SENCOs.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting positive behaviours and reinforcing school values.
  • Help de-escalate challenging situations, providing a calm and supportive presence.
  • Work with teachers and school staff to identify behavioural triggers and create tailored support plans.
  • Monitor progress, keeping accurate records, and communicating regularly with senior staff and parents.
  • Support pupils' emotional well-being through targeted interventions, boosting self-esteem and social skills.

What We're Looking For: We're seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor with a strong background in primary education and a focus on working with children who display challenging behaviours. You will be empathetic, resilient, and skilled in creating a safe and supportive environment.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant Qualifications: A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification, or a background in Youth Work, Psychology, Counselling, or similar fields.
  • Experience: Experience working with children in a school or similar setting, particularly those with behavioural challenges.
  • Behaviour Management: Proven experience in supporting children with behaviour difficulties, implementing strategies to help manage and improve behaviours.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to engage with pupils, staff, and parents, building positive relationships and offering clear guidance.
  • SEN Knowledge: Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly around conditions such as ADHD, Autism, or Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
  • Patience & Resilience: Ability to stay calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with sensitivity and a solution-focused approach.
  • Teamwork: Experience working collaboratively with teachers and school staff to ensure consistency in behaviour management.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Enhanced DBS: A current Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Training in de-escalation techniques, mental health first aid, or trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience with therapeutic interventions such as play therapy or restorative practices.
  • Familiarity with behaviour monitoring tools, such as CPOMS, to track and report on pupil progress.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible Work: Choose from a variety of roles in schools across Nottingham, with the ability to manage your own schedule.
