Behaviour Support Assistant Position Available in Bramhall, Stockport

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Behaviour Support Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Bramhall, Stockport. This is a full-time position starting ASAP and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Student Support: Providing targeted support to students who exhibit challenging behaviours, helping them to manage their behaviour effectively.
  • Behaviour Management: Implementing behaviour management strategies and interventions, both in and out of the classroom, to promote positive behaviour.
  • Individualised Plans: Working with teachers and other staff to develop and implement Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) for students.
  • Mentoring: Acting as a mentor and positive role model, offering guidance and support to help students develop coping mechanisms and improve their behaviour.
  • Crisis Intervention: Responding to and managing behavioural incidents, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students.
  • Collaboration: Liaising with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Monitoring Progress: Tracking and reporting on the progress of students, adjusting support strategies as needed.
  • Supportive Environment: Helping to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Conflict Resolution: Assisting in resolving conflicts and disputes among students, promoting a peaceful school atmosphere.
  • Professional Development: Participating in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and effectiveness in the role.

Requirements:

  • A background in education, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting students with behavioural challenges.
  • Experience working with young people in an educational or support setting is desirable.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing situations and needs.
  • A commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students.
