The Role:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Hyde. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with challenging behaviours and special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Students: Work closely with students who exhibit challenging behaviours, providing one-on-one support and guidance to help them engage positively with their learning.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement behaviour management strategies tailored to individual student needs, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other support staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Monitoring Progress: Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
  • Promote Inclusion: Foster an inclusive atmosphere within the classroom by encouraging positive interactions among students and promoting social skills development.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student behaviour and progress, contributing to reports for staff meetings and parent consultations.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting is essential; experience specifically in behaviour support is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in education or child development (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to use initiative when required.
