Job Title: Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

Location: Newport

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 15:30

Pay: Minimum £12.90 per hour

Teaching Personnel are looking for a dedicated individual to join one of our partnership schools in Newport. The fantastic school is looking for a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to help support pupils with ALN (additional learnings needs) and behavioural issues. To be a successful candidate for this role, you will need to demonstrate resilience and empathy whilst providing essential care and support to pupils to allow them to develop and grow. You will work in conjunction with the class teacher and other teaching staff to effectively assist them in contributing to the overall positive learning experience of the pupils. Key responsibilities of the Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant:

  • Work on a 1:1/small group basis with pupils who have ALN
  • Build trusting and meaningful relationships with pupils and staff offering social and emotional support
  • Adhere to the schools safeguarding policies
  • Provide a positive and encouraging environment in which pupils’ confidence and skills can flourish
  • Adapt to various situations as they arise demonstrating flexibility and resilience

Job requirements:

  • Enhanced Child Only DBS Certificate (we can help you obtain this)
  • To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
  • Two professional references covering 24 months

Whilst having experience working with children who have special education needs in a professional setting is desirable, we welcome applications from people who have personal experience or someone who is willing to fully engage and develop skills in this area.
