SEMH Provision located in the London Borough of Greenwich is seeking a dedic:ated and experienced Youth Worker or Behaviour Teaching Assistant,  Monday to Friday 8:20am to 4pm to start immediately!

The ideal Youth Worker / Behaviour Teaching Assistant will have a strong background in supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), mental health challenges, behavioural issues, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This role involves providing 1:1 and classroom support to help students achieve their full potential.

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with ASD, mental health issues, behavioural problems, and ODD.
  • Doesn’t take things to heart and not easily offended
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of EHCPs.
  • Support students in managing their behaviour and developing coping strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help students with their academic work and social skills development.
  • Monitor and record student progress and report to relevant stakeholders.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and external agencies.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
  • Proven experience working with children and young people with ASD, mental health issues, and behavioural challenges.
  • Knowledge and experience in supporting students with ODD and those with EHCPs.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young people.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, or a related field are desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Live in commutable distance to The London Borough of Greenwich
