Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking for a Teaching assistant to join a school in Bridgend which supports students with additional needs. The educator needs to be a charismatic, patient person with the ability to think on their feet and adapt to situations with ease. Experience working within school is not vital but experience with additional needs would be extremely useful and will give a real head start to successful candidates. You could either be put with a small group or a 1-to-1 pupil, so you need to be comfortable working with both pupil group sizes and able to adapt to them.

We need someone who can commit to a long-term vacancy with a lot of flexibility as we will need to create a regular pattern as the school likes keeping a strong routine for the pupils. In interview stage showing passion and for the vacancy and for the type of work is vital!

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring pupils are engaging in all sessions.
  • Assist in personal care tasks as an when if needed e.g. toileting and feeding.
  • To plan and implement appropriate techniques to deal with challenging behaviour in pupils where appropriate.
  • To take part in relevant training and courses as required.

Requirements and qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS and registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
  • Understands the development needs of children and those with disability/challenging behaviour.
  • Manual handling experience would be a huge advantage.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
