Smile Education is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Behavioural Attendance Officer to join a school in the Rochdale area. This role is crucial in promoting and ensuring positive student attendance and behaviour across the school.
We are particularly keen to hear from ex-police officers, former members of the armed forces, or individuals with experience in roles involving public safety, law enforcement, or conflict resolution. Your background will equip you with the skills needed to manage and positively influence student behaviour while supporting a safe and productive learning environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and track student attendance, identify patterns of absenteeism or lateness
  • Work closely with students, parents, and staff to address attendance issues and develop strategies for improvement
  • Engage with students displaying challenging behaviours, providing mentorship and guidance to help them stay engaged in their education
  • Work collaboratively with the school’s pastoral team to support students with behavioural issues, helping to implement behaviour plans
  • Conduct home visits when necessary to address persistent attendance issues and liaise with external agencies when required
  • Develop positive relationships with parents, carers, and local authorities to encourage improved student attendance and behaviour
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, behaviour incidents, and interventions
 
Key Requirements:
  • Experience in law enforcement, the military, or similar fields is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and child protection
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Conflict resolution, negotiation, and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail when maintaining records and reports
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive approach to working with young people from various backgrounds
