Teaching Personnel are currently seeking experienced Learning Support Assistants who are passionate about Early Years education and supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). In this role, you'll utilize communication-friendly strategies to engage and support pupils within the classroom. You will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of these pupils, and supporting their social and emotional wellbeing.

General Teaching Assistant experience is valuable, along with specific expertise in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Learning Support Assistant responsibilities:

  • Working in a mainstream classroom, providing extra support to those pupils with ALN.
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents and provide social and emotional support.
  • Create a positive and caring, safe environment for the pupils to thrive.
  • Adhere to school’s safeguarding and protection policies.
  • Strong teamwork with fellow Teachers and Teaching Assistants
  • Adapting to situations as they arise.

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Newport

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 15:30

Pay: Minimum £83.85 per day

Start: September 2024

A Successful Learning Support Assistant will require:

  • To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
  • Hold a Child only DBS certificate that is registered on the Update System.
  • Provide 2 professional references covering 24 months.
  • To be strong and resilient when facing challenging behaviour.

The School:

This school is based in Newport and is easily accessible via public transport. They have around 600 pupils. They have 1 dedicated class base to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs. There are around 10 children within this nurture room, of a variety of ages. The school aims to be the ‘centre of equity and excellence for learning and wellbeing’. This school identifies as having 22% of pupils with additional learning needed, the schools learning resource base opening in September 2016 to support those pupils with behaviour and learning disabilities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
