We have an exciting opportunity for a Classroom Behaviour Buddy at a Secondary School in Newport. In this role, you’ll work closely with students in both small groups and on a 1:1 basis to support their behavioural needs.

Role Overview:

  • Salary: £83.85 - £95 per day (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Hours: 08:30 - 15:30
  • Position: Behaviour Mentor at a Secondary School in Newport
  • Start Date: October 2024
  • Contract: Initially until August 2025, with the possibility of a permanent role for the right candidate!

Position Details:

As a Behaviour Buddy, you’ll be instrumental in supporting Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students. These students require additional support due to learning difficulties and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

Your role involves being a positive role model and establishing clear, fair boundaries to guide students effectively. You’ll manage behaviour, track progress, and provide support under the supervision of the ALNCo. You may also need to address crisis situations, manage disclosures, and handle altercations.

You’ll also assist with vocational activities and sessions that cover life skills, sports, design technology, arts, construction, computing, and food technology, alongside core academic lessons.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking individuals who are adept at behaviour management and have experience working or volunteering with children or adults facing behavioural challenges. Backgrounds in Youth Work, Psychology, or Sports Coaching are particularly valuable.

Requirements:

To be successful in this position you will need to have an enhanced DBS and EWC registration (or be willing to apply).  You will also need experience, personal or professional, supporting children.  If no classroom based experience, you must be able to demonstrate transferable skills at interview.
