Poynton High School is currently working with Teaching Personnel in order to recruit for a full-time permanent Cover Supervisor to start as of September 2024 (or sooner). The hours are 32.5 hours per week (6.5 hours per day) and would involve you being on sight in school from 08:30am - 3:30pm each day (30-minute unpaid lunch break).

About The School

Poynton High School is an 11-18 Ofsted Good Secondary School and attached Sixth Form catering to students right up to A-Level. It is situated in a highly desirable affluent catchment area. There is transport links available with the nearby Poynton train station offering links into and out of Manchester city centre and Stockport, however access to a vehicle would be beneficial. Poynton has roughly 1500 students from Year 7 - Year 13 and has catered to the wider community of Poynton, Disley and Adlington since 1972. The school's SLT are incredibly supportive and always ensure that each staff member has the tools required to provide each of their students with the best possible education, embodying their motto; INSPIRE, ACHIEVE, CELEBRATE.

Responsibilities

-          Provide classroom supervision in the absence of a class teacher.

-          Deliver pre-set work to classes across every key stage.

-          Liaise with other members of staff and build strong and positive working relationships.

-          Ensure the safeguarding of all students and immediately reporting any cause for safeguarding concern to the schools Safeguarding lead. (Free of charge and Nationally Accredited Level 2 Children's Safeguarding qualification provided by Teaching Personnel).

Requirements for role

-          Undergraduate University Degree.

-          Minimum of 6 months experience of working within a UK Secondary School (either in a Cover Supervisor role or a similar position that would provide transferrable skills).

-          Strong Literacy and Numeracy skills.

-          Highly professional and enthusiastic individual, who is also punctual and reliable.

-          Ability to build strong working relationships.

Pay

-          For the first 15 term-time weeks within the role the pay will be between £85.00 - £90.00 per day (based on a 6.5 hour working day).

-          Upon completion of the 15 term-time weeks through Teaching Personnel, you will then offered a direct permanent contract by Poynton High School.

-          The offered annual salary through a direct contract will then be £20,025 per annum (by daily comparison, this would work out as £102.69 per day.

This is an excellent opportunity for anybody who has prior experience within a school setting that they are looking to build upon to further develop their career within education. Or perhaps even if you aspire to one day become a fully qualified teacher, this would provide the perfect experience required in order to get onto a PGCE course. The school is looking for an adaptable, confident and enthusiastic person that would be able to help promote the schools ethos for learning.

In order to apply for this role, you will need to apply to Teaching Personnel (who will then put you through the full vetting and registration process) and will organize in-person interviews with the school. As a reminder, there is the option to start either in September 2024 or sooner should you be able to (this would be desirable but is by no means essential and the school are able to be flexible for the right candidate).
