COVER SUPERVISOR

DO YOU WANT THE OPPORTUNITY TO TEACH A RANGE OF LESSONS ACROSS A VARIETY OF SUBJECT SPECIALISMS WITHOUT THE PRESSURES OF PLANNING OR MARKING?

As a cover supervisor, you are required to step up in the absence of the class teacher and provide a confident delivery of any subject across the secondary curriculum. The idea of a cover supervisor is to give the pupils the consistency whilst their usual teacher is not there, enabling them to have continuity of learning and support.

IF YOU ARE A FULLY QUALIFIED TEACHER OR AN EXPERIENCED COVER SUPERVISOR, YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EARN MORE MONEY SHOULD YOU TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PLANNING AND MARKING (THIS CAN ALL BE DISCUSSED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS!)

Key Responsibilites:

  • Accurately follow lesson plan provided by class teacher, ensuring you get through the whole lesson
  • Confidently manage behaviour within the classroom and use techniques that are effective
  • Be a strong classroom presence and gain a rapport with the pupils
  • Engage with the pupils and offer support to those that require it
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment which is calm and enables children to learn and thrive
  • Maintain records of students absence, behaviour and anything important for the class teacher
  • Show a strong awareness of safeguarding and ensure you know who the DSL (or responsible person for safeguarding) is within the school
  • Report any safeguarding issues to DSL or senior management in a timely and professional manner

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience as a cover supervisor
  • Qualified teacher who wants the flexibility of teaching across the curriculum
  • Recent graduate with professional experience in a similar field
  • Confident personality who is strong with behaviour management
  • Previous experience within an educational setting
  • Previous experience working with children or young people
  • DBS on update service (we can support with this)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
