Cover Supervisor

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join the team at a client secondary school. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of education when teachers are absent. You will be responsible for supervising classes across various subjects, ensuring that students remain engaged with their learning activities while upholding school policies and standards.

The school is situated in the heart of Urmston, only a 10-minute walk from public transport options. There is also an onsite car park for members of staff with a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Classes: Oversee students during lessons when regular teachers are unavailable, ensuring that they follow instructions left by the teacher.
  • Maintain Classroom Discipline: Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote positive behaviour and create an orderly learning environment.
  • Support Student Learning: Assist students with their work as needed, providing guidance and encouragement to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Monitor Progress: Keep track of student engagement and progress during lessons, reporting any concerns to relevant staff members.
  • Communicate Effectively: Liaise with teaching staff regarding lesson plans, student needs, and any issues that arise during supervision.
  • Participate in Training: Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills as a Cover Supervisor and contribute positively to the school community.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
  • A passion for education and supporting student development.
