Role Overview

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning for students when their regular teachers are absent. You will be responsible for supervising, classes, ensuring that students remain engaged and focused on their work, and managing classroom behaviour effectively. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education and looking to gain valuable experience within a school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise Classes: Oversee the learning environment during teacher absences, ensuring students follow set lesson plans.
  • Manage Behaviour: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive classroom atmosphere.
  • Support Learning: Assist students with their tasks, providing guidance where necessary while encouraging independent learning.
  • Communicate Effectively: Liaise with teaching staff regarding student progress and any issues that arise during lessons.
  • Adaptability: Be prepared to cover various subjects and age groups as required by the school.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Education Background: A minimum of GCSEs in English and Mathematics (or equivalent). A degree or relevant qualification in education is advantageous.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting is preferred but not essential.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students quickly.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Flexibility & Resilience: Adaptable to changing situations and able to handle challenges calmly.
